Convert Video to Text Online
Upload a video file or paste a URL to get a full text transcript. DomeScribe extracts the audio and transcribes it automatically.
How it works
- Upload your video file. Select a video file from your device — DomeScribe accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, and MKV. There is no need to extract the audio first; DomeScribe handles it automatically.
- Specify the spoken language. Indicate which language is spoken in the video so the speech engine uses the correct model. Auto-detect is available if you are uncertain.
- Begin transcription. Click Transcribe. DomeScribe separates the audio track from the video container and processes it through advanced speech recognition in the cloud.
- Get your transcript. Review the full text on screen. Download it as a plain text file for subtitles, scripts, or documentation — or copy it straight to your clipboard.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to extract the audio before uploading a video?
No. DomeScribe automatically strips the audio track from your video file during processing. Just upload the video in its original format and the tool handles everything from there.
Which video formats are supported?
DomeScribe accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV, and FLV files. These cover virtually every common video format from phones, cameras, screen recorders, and editing software.
Can I transcribe screen recordings with narration?
Screen recordings are an excellent use case. The narration audio is usually clean and free of background noise, which means DomeScribe's speech recognition model produces highly accurate transcripts.
Will DomeScribe capture on-screen text from the video?
DomeScribe only transcribes spoken audio — it does not perform optical character recognition on visual text. If important information appears only as text on screen, it will not be included in the transcript.
How large of a video file can I upload?
DomeScribe supports video files up to several gigabytes, though uploading very large files may take longer depending on your internet connection. Compressing the video beforehand can reduce upload time without affecting transcription accuracy.
